Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
As the buses arrive on school grounds, they wrap around the entire school building – this is the same for departure. We urge you to make sure your child knows their bus number and home address prior to our first day of school (this mainly applies to grade 6). Students will learn where their bus is located in proximity to the building within the first few days of school. Staff will be available to assist any student in need.
Please understand that buses will not be held due to students socializing over boarding their bus in a timely manner. Students are not able to ride other buses other than their assigned bus. We have set rosters for safety and emergency purposes.
At dismissal, your child’s bus will be waiting in the same vicinity each day. The map below shows the bus line up. Buses are color coded based on the section where the bus will be found. Within that section, the buses could be in a different order but will always be in that section. We will review this information with students during our first days together. Apart from the yellow wing, main office, and white wing, students will depart from the closest wing to their bus.
Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Guidelines
Arrival
All walkers and P/G morning arrivals will take place on the White House/Main Office side of the building. Students must be dropped off and picked up at the White House/Main Office curb. They cannot walk into the parking lot or be picked up at any other location on school property. If you drop your child off, please understand that the earliest we are able to provide supervision is 7:35. We ask that you pull all the way to the top of the drop off area by the White House entrance. This way we can optimize the number of students exiting their car at once. Staff will be outside to direct this process. When we are at the height of drop off, we are attempting to get vehicles off of Raffia Rd. and onto the school campus. This drop off procedure is the most efficient and safest way. Again, as you enter the property, please follow our directions with this process as it will ensure things move in an expedited manner. If you drop your child off after 8:00am, please have your child enter through the Main Entrance.
Dismissal
Student walkers and parent/guardian pick-ups will also take place on the White House/Main Office side of the building. As you enter the property, you will make your way around the loop to a stop sign, please stop there and wait until we direct you to pull up to the curb. Once you collect your child, you are welcome to depart the line and exit the campus (please use caution). During this process, we ask that those waiting do not leave space between vehicles. If the car in front of you collects their child and departs, please slowly pull forward into the created space. This alleviates a large amount of congestion on Raffia Road. Please note we dismiss in a staggered manner to ensure dismissal remains safe. Please take some time to review the below traffic patterns.
Bike/Walking Safety
All students who are walkers or riding their bike to school should wait by the main entrance/white wing entrance for arrival. Students should utilize the crosswalks by Twin Rinks and Dollar General as we have crossing guards at both of these locations. Students will need to walk their bikes once on the school campus.
Understanding these procedures is vital to ensuring the safety of all. Last, we urge you to utilize extreme caution when driving in proximity or on campus during arrival or departure times. There are roughly 1,000 students and 45 buses involved in this procedure. The first few days WILL be slower in execution; however, as you learn the system and flow, it evolves into a smoother process.
Transportation Changes
If during the school year, there is a change of address (within the Town of Enfield), please make the house office of your child aware of the change of address. The house office secretary will put the request into the bus company. All changes have a turnaround time of three school days. Please make sure to make the house office aware of the change as soon as possible so that the bus company has time to accommodate.
