Meeting Minutes
November 5, 2009

MINUTES:
The minutes from the October 2009 meeting were read and reviewed.  The minutes were accepted.

TREASURER’S REPORT:
Nikki Price reviewed the financial statement. The financials were accepted.

The Fundaz raised approximately $5000.

A motion was made to spend up to $4000 for the 7th graders trip to the Hartford Stage to see the Christmas Carol on December 17, 2009. Motion passed.
    
It was decided we would sell the extra tickets to parents wanting to attend. Mr. Longey will put the information on the school’s website.

FUNDRAISING REPORT:
Mr. Neville discussed the PTO’s fundraising attempts. He wants us to be careful not to burden the JFK community with excessive fieldtrip and excess fundraising. Other fundraising options were discussed.

➢    Bake sale for next year’s voting day.
➢    There was a discussion about sending letters to the community asking for a donation and giving them a tax deduction letter.
➢    Big Y – which as been very successful in year’s past
➢    Stop and Shop – Mr. Longey has filled out the application
➢    Some businesses donate for time volunteered.
➢    Bradley Bowl Bowling night
➢    McDonald’s Night – teachers would assist the McDonald’s staff and the school would get a % of the profit.
➢    Citrus for the Holidays.
➢    Pizza Kit – sell for the Super Bowl. It was thought this would be an excellent fundraiser.
➢    Magazine Drive – traditionally done in March after the CMT’s.
➢    Cell phone recycling.
➢    Scripts – Lynn, Deanna and Diane will form a subcommittee to get this program started.
o    A motion to spend $1000 was passed in order for us to purchase gift cards to get started. We will start selling at the band concert in December.
o    Gift cards to Dunkin Donuts, Walmart, Target, Big Y and Stop and Shop will start us off.

DISCUSSION:
The Book Fair will be set up in the library during conferences.

The golf fundraiser was tabled until next month.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.
