PTO Meeting dates:
Thursday, Dec. 3, Thursday, Jan. 7, Thursday, Feb. 4, Thursday, March 4, Thursday, April 1, Thursday, May 6, Thursday, June 3.
Big Y Homework Line is a free service available Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. by calling 1-800-866-BIGY or on line by logging on to www.bigy.com/homework. The helpline has a team of certified teachers with a variety of classroom experience.
Big Y is again awarding points to our school. This service is also free. Parents sign up with the school's code, which is 5193 and for every dollar you spend, the school receives points to use toward the purchase of merchandise. A sign up form will be coming home with your student. Additional forms can be obtained at any Big Y store or from Mr. Longey in Blue House. The JFK Code is required for our school to receive the points.
We will also be starting a new program to collect Shaw's receipts. Again, this a free program. Shaw's receipts are collected through the school and submitted for cash back to the PTO. This is another great way to help the PTO if you don't have time to volunteer.
The library is looking for gently used books for the K to 6th grade reading levels to enhance their easy reading section of the library. If you have any books that are in good condition and are willing to donate them, please bring them into the JFK Library. They will be much appreciated.
A+ Bonus Bucks
This year Stop & Shop is rolling the A+ Bonus Bucks program throughout the entire company. A+ Bonus Bucks was launched in the fall of 2000, in different regions of the company to make an even easier way to help local schools. To date the program has awarded over $19.4 million in cash to over 3,900 schools. This year will mark the first year that A+ Bonus Bucks was introduced to Stop & Shop's in the State of Connecticut. With everyone's support, Stop & Shop will donate $1 million to community schools this year through the A+ Plus Bonus Buck Program.
A+ Bonus Bucks makes it easy for you to earn valuable cash rewards for school simply by registering your school, and gaining the support from the parents that already shop at Stop & Shop. All schools who wish to participate must register via the website at www.stopandshop.com/aplus. No schools will receive any funds earned through this year's program without registering and supporters will not be able to select an unregistered school. The 2009-2010 program runs from October 2, 2009 and runs through March 18, 2010. At the conclusion of the program a check will be mailed to each participating school. Once your school receives the check, it's up to the school to decide the best way to use it. It could be used to purchase computers, buy new cheerleading uniforms, band instruments, or other useful educational equipment. Click here for a FAQ A+ Bonus Bucks program page.
