Computer Technology Mission
The computer technology grades four through eight curriculum is aligned with Connecticut state and national goals. Reflecting the school's mission statement, its purpose is to use current technologies to support learning and to provide a means for each student to find academic success. The curriculum encourages the development of computer and technology skills which are now considered life skills. The Computer Technology Department of J.F.K. Middle School consists of two teachers who are responsible for the directed exploratory curriculum (DEC) for all J.F.K. students, the computer instruction of staff at J.F.K., the basic maintenance of the computer hardware located in the building, the evaluation and purchase of software, and the development of the supplemental exploratory curriculum (SEC) in conjunction with J.F.K. teachers. In addition, the Computer Technology staff is called upon to develop multimedia productions covering a variety of school activities and topics as well as graphic art projects to suit the needs of the school community.
